Quiana likes to think of herself as #thereallifeOT because she has been on both sides of the table- as the professional and as the parent/carer. Professionally, Quiana is a highly skilled occupational therapist who still has the same drive and passion for occupational therapy that she did when she graduated from Spalding University over a decade ago. She has dedicated the majority of her career to helping children and their families/support circles, from all walks of life, to achieve a sense of accomplishment, happiness, and lasting quality of life. She has worked with children living with various diagnoses and challenges and strives to support the whole child with her specialized training and knowledge. Quiana is known to be a personable, engaging, and compassionate practitioner who believes that "it takes a village" to help nurture a child and with this belief, Quiana understands the importance of teamwork, collaboration, caregiver involvement, and the family unit.
However, personally, Quiana knows firsthand what it's like to have a child (and even a parent) that requires additional support. Raising a child with a heart condition that resulted in various additional diagnoses (e.g. Developmental Delay, vision problems, and Failure to Thrive to name a few) and caring for her mother who lost her battle to Multiple Sclerosis has presented its challenges and humbling experiences. But these life experiences have ultimately molded Quiana into the dynamic practitioner that she is today. Because of these adversities, Quiana can approach each child and their family with an additional layer of understanding.
Quiana is trained in the use of Vital Links' Therapeutic Listening, Learning Without Tears (formerly Handwriting Without Tears), Interactive Metronome, and aspects of Pediatric Yoga, She is skilled in creating sensory diets, social stories, and visual schedules. She is also a licensed Zumbini instructor! She holds an NBCOT Pediatrics Practice Area Emphasis badge, NBCOT Certification, is HCPC registered (a United Kingdom qualification), and is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and the Royal College of Occupational Therapist (RCOT). She is currently practicing/servicing children and families in Indiana, Kentucky, and the Greater London (UK) areas.
When Quiana isn't busy helping children and families achieve HAPPINESS, organizing spaces, planning events, watching HGTV, or blogging, she enjoys family time with her baby boy, Ace, her bonus son, Jayden, and husband, David.
